Nikolai Mikhailovichl Romadin
Born in Samara in 1903. Studied at Samara Art Tekhnikum 1922 and 1928-29; Moscow. VKHUTEMAS/VKHUTEIN 1923-30. Active in Moscow. Began exhibiting 1929. Member of AKHR from 1929. Exhibited with Rost.
Important shows include ‘Anti-Imperialist Exhibition’, Moscow, 1931; ‘Artist of the Russian Federation over Fifteen Years’, Leningrad, 1932; ‘Fifteen Years of the Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army’, Moscow, 1933. ‘Industry of Socialism’, Moscow, 1939; “All Union Art Exhibition’, Moscow, 1946; “All Union Art Exhibition’, 1947; All Union Art Exhibition’, Moscow, 1949; ‘All Union Art Exhibition’, Moscow, 1950; ‘All Union Art Exhibition, Moscow, 1950, 1952, 1955; ‘Soviet Russia’, Moscow, 1960. Painted genre pictures 1930’s; lyrical landscapes from c.1938. Became a Soviet Academician. Awarded the Stalin Prize 1946; Order of Lenin; the title ‘People’s Artist of the USSR’. Outstanding landscape painter.
Died in Moscow 1987.
