Nikolai Ivanovich Feshin
Nikolai I. Feshin was born in Kazan in 1881. He studied art at the Kazan Art School in 1900 and at the Imperial Academy of Arts. Nikolai was active in Kazan from 1909 -1923 and in the USA from 1923 in New York, Taos, New Mexico and Los Angeles. He was a member of the Commune of Artists from 1910 and a founding member, Itinerants. Exhibited with Comradeship of Independents 1910s. Itinerants 1912-22. Nikolai I Feshin specialised in portraits, he painted one of the first portraits of Lenin in 1918. He taught at the Kazan Art School/Free Art Studios/Art Institute 1909-23. He became an academician in 1916. He was also a theater artist from 1920-22.
Nikolai I. Feshin died in Los Angeles, California in 1955.
